Conference was awesome! My favorite talks were Elder Eyring’s Sunday morning and Elder Holland’s on Saturday. Elder Bednar’s was pretty cool too. This past week started off really slow in White Mesa. I was in Montezuma Creek on exchanges from Monday to Wednesday and had a great time. It was a good change of routine.
This past Monday after the temple trip to Monticello, we played a Zone-Wide (all the missionaries in our mission that serve in Utah, which is 7 sets) kickball in Blanding. It was super fun. We played on a softball field next to the elementary school.
Since the Shiprock fair was this weekend (Thursday to Sunday) literally nobody was on the Mesa. Yeah, it was pretty bad. So, we tried some families down in the Hatch area, but they were all not home as well. But, Friday night we went over to the Lopez’s (really awesome family) and it turns out that one of the daughters wants to be baptized. Elder Hudson and I were like “What?!, We can help with that.” That’s one prayer answered. Then we saw them Saturday night as well and got to watch the morning conference session on Sunday with them. That session was the bomb-diggity. Hearing the testimonies of the 3 new apostles was super cool, especially for the Lopez family to hear.
Life’s going great in Southern Utah. Thanks for all of the kind letters and mail. This past week, I listened to a BYU Devotional by Dan Clark “The Four Steps on the Stairway to Heaven.” I remember being in the Marriott Center last year for it, and it’s still an awesome, inspiring talk. Here’s the fourth article of faith, which I can’t really say without singing the accompanying primary song: “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second,Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
The scriptures are awesome! They’re so real and the people within them are real. They are advice and literally wisdom for us in our individual life. What a privilege it is to have the Book of Mormon today and living prophets as well.
