This week was really good. This past Monday we played zone Football on the high school football field. Thankfully, nobody got hurt and we all had a good time soaking up the sun. We’re continuing to bead with Wanda and meet with her every Monday which is super fun. We’re going to learn another type of stitch today. That’ll be cool.
On the down side of things I was sick Tuesday and Wednesday with pretty much the common flu (threw up a few times) but I’m back to 100% now. Throwing up feels so good when you get all the stuff out of your stomach but the more it happens the worse you feel. But, yeah, I’m all good now
Thursday was Zone Training in Blanding (where all the missionaries in our Zone get together and basically just learn from each other). It was super good. One of the trainings was on the October Ensign article about Real Intent and why you do he things you do. It’s always a good thing to evaluate why you do the things you do in life. The article talked about how real intent is doing the right things for the right reasons.
We got to see the Lopez family again and had some really good discussions about the importance of church attendance and just how much living the Gospel and doing the things God wants us to do brings joy in our lives. There’s two Navajo kids (Riley (13) and Bryden (10)) that we visit with each week and have taught them the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We watched the Joseph Smith Restoration video with them and the video does a great job at illustrating the events that took place for the Church of Jesus Christ to be restored in the Latter-Days. Yeah, I love reading through the Doctrine and Covenants and putting my self in the shoes of Joseph Smith. Can you imagine the kind of persecution he went through? In Joseph Smith-History he writes about how when he told people of his vision they’d shoot him down and tell him that that doesn’t happen. But Joseph recalls that he could not deny it and wouldn’t because he didn’t want to offend God. If every one in the world took on this mindset of doing all they can not to offend God, the world would be so much more peaceful.
Anyways, I’m doing great and I really hope to be able to stay in White Mesa for at least a few more months (we’ll see. Transfers are on Halloween). Here’s the sixth Article of Faith which actually talks about the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ: “We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.”
Also, we got to do a lot of service this week and clean out some horse pens. It felt like good ‘ole barn cleaning all over again. It was great! Love you all! Thanks for all the support and letters and such. Have a great week!
