It was a good week, but not too much to talk about. On Monday we stayed in Blanding and just chilled with the Blanding Elders. We had a Zone Conference Tuesday in Cortez and hit up Wal-Mart.
Yeah, we got to see a lot of people this week. Also, tomorrow the 2nd missionary ever to leave from White Mesa is coming home. It’s gonna be pretty cool.
We had a really good lesson this past week with a less-active lady who wants to come back to church but hasn’t really put her desires into action. Pres. Jones challenged us to share the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as we could. So, we went through the pamphlet with her and challenged her to really know for herself the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. It was awesome. It’s really satisfying as a missionary to know that you did your best to help those around you. They may not act on it, but you can give them the option. Hopefully, we can help her come back to church.
Life’s good in White Mesa. I feel like I know the Mesa really well. Elder Rigby and I started a dog directory with all the dog’s on the Mesa (I know a few of them).
Yesterday in church one of the speakers didn’t come, so Elder Rigby and I were asked to speak for a few minutes to the 20 or so people in the congregation. I shared the words that Alma the younger said to a non-believer named Korihor in Alma 30. verse 44: “But Alma said unto him: Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.” Truly the testimonies of the general authorities witness that God and Christ live. I love the reservation at night because the sky is absolutely clear and the stars so visible. This world is amazing to me and it does indeed witness that their is someone above it all.
5th point of the true church: “The true church must claim divine authority.” With a few references. Here’s Luke 9:1: “Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” The divine authority is the Priesthood. And one of the reasons I love sharing the message of the restoration of the gospel is that it emphasizes how the Priesthood was restored to the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that’s the case. The Priesthood is definitely real, and I’m very glad to hold it and bless the lives of others with it.
Thanks for all the letters and support. Love you all, Have a good week!
