February 8th, 2016- All is Well in Bloomfield

Alrighty, well this last week was a little slow, but we did get to talk to a lot of people. So, on Wednesday Elder Henderson and I were suppose to go with a member, Bro. Darnell, to see a less-active family, but the family canceled last minute. So, Bro. Darnell, told us to meet him at the church and he’d take us to see somebody. We were like “ok, sure!” Bro. Darnell ends up taking us with him to his nieces family (all non-members). We’re like what do you want us to talk about? Bro. Darnell just says “I’m not sure, they’re really nice though.” For the next hour Bro. Darnell talked to his relatives about the scriptures and all the essential doctrines of the gospel. It was awesome! We just sat there and listened as  he told his relatives of the power of prayer and the priesthood and the strength that comes from reading the Book of Mormon. At the end we left 3 copies of the Book of Mormon for the kids in the family and the care-taker of the home asked for a restoration DVD. It was so cool! Just a family member explaining to his family how much the gospel and membership in the church has blessed his life.

So, on the way back to our apartment, I ask Elder Henderson where this family lived (I don’t know Bloomfield that well in the first place and we went overt to this families house in the dark). Well, it turns out that they’re not in our area and we won’t be going with Bro. Darnell to see them anymore, which is pretty sad because they were such a cool family. Elder Henderson and I were pretty bummed out. Oh well, we’re hoping to find somebody like them in our area who wants to learn.
Bigger than the RV!
Here’s the 8th point of the true church: “The true church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands.” With the reference of Acts 8:14-17 – “Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.”
The gift of the Holy Ghost is such a wonderful gift to have. I definitely take it for granted too much, that’s for sure. All is well though in Bloomfield and I hope you all have a great week. Thanks for everything. Love You!
