This past week went really well. On Monday, I was in Bloomfield and we played some ultimate frisbee with the other elders. It was super fun and really awesome to throw a frisbee around.
On Tuesday, I road on the “Transfer Van” down to Gallup and Elder Bowie picked me up. Tohatchi is about 30 minutes away from Gallup and fairly large. We have a lot of people in our area and cover quite a bit of ground. And…we have a truck instead of a jeep which is nice.
Super cool thing this past week is we teach a lady named Doris. She’s been investigating the church for a few months and I got to meet her. She’s a sweet Navajo lady and she knows the Book of Mormon is true and like us teaching her about the gospel. Anyways, we invited her to come to a baptism in Sheep Springs and she came and absolutely loved it. She said she really enjoyed it and liked how happy the person getting baptized was afterwards.
People are super nice to us here, which is cool.
Cool scriptural insight. I was reading right before the Alma the Younger story in the Book of Mormon about Alma, the elder, King Noah and Abinadi. I love those chapters in Mosiah. Cool story about praying in Mosiah 26. So, in Zarahemla there were people in the church that weren’t living very righteously and leading other members to do wickedly. King Mosiah didn’t appreciate this, so he asked Alma to take care of it. Alma had no idea how to take care of these people, so what does he do? He prays! Verse 14: “And it came to pass that after he had poured out his whole soul to God, the voice of the Lord came to him, saying:” And then the Lord tells him how to manage the wicked people in the church. In the words that Alma receives he receives this counsel from the Lord on repentance: “Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me.” Isn’t that awesome! I’ve really come to know, especially as a missionary, that those who have questions will receive answers if they pray with faith. And that those who truly seek repentance will be forgiven.
Cool, where here’s the 13th point of the true church: “The true church must claim revelation from God.” I know that Alma received revelation when he asked, why not us too. Here’s the scripture mastery reference with it: Amos 3:7 – “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” I can’t wait to hear from President Monson and the Apostles this upcoming general conference. Plus, it’s the Easter season. …and March Madness (but that’s not important right now, right?).
Yeah, I’m doing good and am enjoying my time in Tohatchi. Thanks for all the support and everything! Love you all!
